By May 15, 2024 Events, News

Wednesday, May 15th we welcome Florence Feldman-Wood exploring Spinning Wheels and Textile Tools. Using descriptions from the period we will look at the tools and processes involved in creating garments and household textiles from wool and flax. The tools needed to prepare the fibers and then the types of spinning wheels that were used. Some of the technological changes that were beginning at that time will also be discussed.

Florence Feldman-Wood has been publishing the quarterly newsletter, The Spinning Wheel Sleuth, A Newsletter about Spinning Wheels and Related Tools, since 1993 and the annual Hand Looms Supplement since 1998. Her articles have appeared in other publications such as Spin-Off, and Early American Life.

We are proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program.
