After roll call established a quorum being present, the Danvers Alarm List Company opened the Danvers’ 274th Annual Town Meeting as a joint color guard, sharing that honor with a local Scout Troop, presenting the Grand Union Flag and the Stars and Stripes, respectively, and leading the Assembled Town Meeting Members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Then the Assembly began the business of reviewing and voting on the Warrant, with Town Meeting Member and Chairman of the Danvers Semiquincentennial Committee, David McKenna delivering a resolution, as written by Town Archivist Richard B. Trask, to reaffirm the Town’s 1776 vote to support the Continental Congress vote to secede from the British Crown. The resolution passed unanimously.
