Year 2020 in Review

By January 20, 2021 News

The Danvers Historical Society wants to take a moment as we enter the holiday season to thank you for your generous partnership over the last year. Yoursupport of our organization has been a true bright spot in the challenges of 2020. With your encouragement, the Society developed and delivered new programming—despite the temporary closures and limitations of a global pandemic.

Our online offerings, like the 250th anniversary of Sarah Page’s rooftop tea protest, have been well received by the membership, Danvers’ families, and local press.

Our socially distanced, in-person events have engaged small, but enthusiastic groups to reconnect with history, music, and culture.

Our social media updates, including short videos from the summer gardens at Glen Magna, have brought the beauty of the outdoors directly to you, just when it was needed it most.

But at this moment, as we review the serious financial impact of the last year on our organization, we ask you to consider a contribution to the Society in support of our Greatest Needs Fund. As a qualified nonprofit, the Danvers Historical Society is eligible to receive cash contributions through a special tax-deductible benefit just for 2020.

Thanks to the federal CARES Act passed this spring, there is a one-time “above the line” charitable income tax donation of up to $300 for cash donation per filer (for non-itemizers) that will keep the Danvers Historical Society strong and vibrant through the winter ahead.

Such generosity will make our final celebration of the year—the Parade of Trees—possible. It will go toward preserving the collections and the historic buildings in the Society’s care. It will allow staff to continue meeting our public outreach mission. And, it will help us prepare the gardens at Glen Magna Farms for the arrival of spring—something we truly look forward to after this year!

Donate today to keep the preservation and education mission of the Danvers Historical Society going. Your contribution of up to $300 per filer (individuals or married couples filing jointly) through the CARES Act as an “above the line” donation for non-itemizers is only possible until December 31st. As always, we recommend you discuss tax benefits and program specifics with a
qualified tax advisor.

Online donations are easy! Click on the button below or head on over to www.DanversHistory.org and find our DONATE button for simple and secure online giving. Or, complete the gift form below and show your support for Danvers History!

While we know that 2020 has presented difficulties to many in our circle of friends, we ask you to join with our Board members, staff, and many dedicated volunteers to make a special gift to the Greatest Needs Fund. Take advantage of the CARES Act 2020 “above the line” contribution before December 31, in lasting support of the history and community that we share.

We can’t wait to welcome you back to a growing roster of events and programs for 2021. Thank you for your thoughtful and generous giving to the Danvers Historical Society at this time.

We wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!
