Newly installed exhibits at Tapley Memorial Hall. We are excited to share new exhibits celebrating Rev 250.

Arrive early to one of our many events at Tapley Hall and explore artifacts from our collections!

American Revolution Era Tableware : Reflecting wealth, social status, and political leanings. Pottery and tableware in the American colonies and early Republic reflected both local ingenuity and global trade, evolving in style, function, and symbolism as the nation moved from colonial dependence to independence. View the various signs of the times through beautiful cream ware and Chinese imports, to pewter, redware, and salt-glazed ware, to colorful commemorative pieces celebrating America’s victory of independence.

Colonial Music and Dance : From weddings to Washington’s victory ball, see how music and dance from Colonial America influenced material culture for over a century. These important social gatherings occurred with all classes and developed a distinct American identity. Items include a pair of shoes and pocketbook from the 18th century, to brooches and fans from the Romantic Period, honoring the Rococo revival.

The American Revolution collection is out of storage and on view at Tapley Memorial Hall : How would you protect and remember your local history? Learn how Danvers residents collected and preserved items related to the American Revolution. See how 1776 was honored in 1876 with artwork and commemorative pottery. On exhibit are items as small as fragments from long-gone homes of Revolutionary War generals, pieces of the old belfry in Lexington, and the longest surviving Elm from the Boston Common. Many of these items were refurbished into letter knives, inkwell holders, and picture frames.
