Bayonet, Scabbard

An iron bayonet, from a potential French origin, possessing a triangularly shaped blade contained within a hand-constructed black leather case decorated with multiple diamonds arranged in a pattern and subsequently stamped onto itself. A brown leather belt loop whose front lap owns a vertical buttonhole is attached to the canister and bayonet. Two paper labels are attached to each side, with the one upon the front reading “From Bunker Hill, 1776;” while the one on the back declares the name “Mrs. C.H. Masury. The bayonet’s characteristics resemble a description of another French bayonet catalogued inside G.C. Newman’s written references and lists.
