Canteen (Essex Guard)

Wooden Canteen

50.9.1: Having initially belonged to William Putnam Page, a member of the Essex Guard, the wooden and leather-strapped canteen reflects Page’s military position through the letters E.G. painted in white, contrasting the blue paint sheet covering the canteen’s center. Page’s name is likewise abbreviated on the bottom of the artifact into the initials W.P.P. During August, 1950, the container was uncovered and donated via one among William Putnam Page’s living descendants, specifically, his great-grandson. The artifact possesses a diameter of 6.25 inches and a 3.25 inch width.
