Buildings Tapley Memorial Hall - 1930 Historical Overview - Directions - Hours & Tours - Photo Gallery Historical Overview Tapley Memorial Hall, built in 1930, houses the Society’s large and varied local history collections. The building met long-time needs of the Danvers Historical Society for space for programming and the storage of collections. A recently adopted strategic plan includes objectives to provide a ramp and restrooms to improve the accessibility of the building. Tapley Hall is now open only for special programs. The DHS collections are diverse and contain some remarkable artifacts, including one of six 17th-century “Great Chairs.” The DHS also holds an extensive collection of textiles, including a rare early 19th-century corset stay.
